Message From The Principal

Christ School, Bangalore, was born out of the charism and the educational vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the visionary saint and social reformer of nineteenth century. He established the first Catholic Sanskrit school which was open to all, irrespective of caste and creed, challenging the social customs and educational practices of nineteenth century. That paved way for the establishment of hundreds of schools under the guidance of Saint Chavara who directed that every church should start a school attached to it. He encouraged children from poorer families to attend them by supplying mid-day meal and dress to them. This educational revolution initiated by the saintly founder is carried forward by the CMI fathers all over the world since then.

CMI educational policy states, “ We, the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate, after the example of our founder St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, consider education integral to the formation of the human person for the fulfilment of his/her individual and social responsibilities. Our educational endeavours aim at forming leaders who are intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy and socially acceptable, who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth and peace and who are ever open to further growth…. We aspire towards creating a just and humane society where dignity of the human person is respected, where unjust social structures are challenged, where our cultural heritage of ahimsa, religious harmony and national integration is upheld, and where the poor and the marginalized are specially taken care of.”

Christ School strives to practice and realize this educational policy of the CMI Congregation. Every program in the school is envisaged, planned and executed keeping in mind these great ideals. So sound character formation along with learning is our proclaimed aim. That is why spiritual, moral, social, intellectual and practical life values are stressed upon in the school. For the realization of these values self -discipline is expected of the staff and students. Co-curricular activities, arts, sports, health and physical fitness and socially contributory productive work form part of the school curriculum. The school motto, “You are the Light of the World” reminds us of the great responsibility of becoming the light house before the world, through our life.

May Jesus Christ, the real Guru, bless all of us.
